Testimony by Zvi Steklov, Palmach soldier

Zvi Steklov was born in 1927 in Tel Aviv. As a member of Kibbutz Revadim in Gush Etzion, he joined the Palmach's Sixth Battalion (Eighth Platoon) in 1948 and commanded the Khirbet Zakariya outpost. As a career IDF officer, he was commander of Gush Yoav in 1953-1957, and later, in 1967-1974, served as a Nahal battalion commander and Deputy Commander of the Nahal. Together with his wife Rahel, also a Palmach member, he lives in the rebuilt Kibbutz Revadim near Gedera.

We started our tour at Tirat Carmel's police station, in the corner of HaPalmach and Laniado Streets.  The building was built in early 1948 as Village Chief Abdullah Salman's residence; regrettably, he hardly had time to enjoy it.

Tour to Iqrith

Zochrot, together with the Iqrit Community Association, organized a tour to the ruined village of Iqrit in the western Galilee. The tour started in the cemetery of the village and ended at the church, the only remaining structure since the village was destroyed on Christmas eve, 1952.

Testimony of Amnon Neumann, Palmach soldier

A Public hearing at Zochrot, a testimony given by Amnon Neauman, a 1948 Palmach soldier describing the occupation of the Negev villages.
Initiated and organized by Amir Hallel. The testimony was video-recorded by Lia Tarachansky. Miri Barak prepared the transcription. Eitan Bronstein edited, summarized, and added footnotes. Translated to English by Asaf Kedar. Video editing by Zohar Kfir.

"On the day Yafa`s refugees return" - a film produced by Zochrot. The film was presented in Rothschild st. 65 gallery (in April 2010) as part of the exhibition "The First Boulevard", which focused on the History and memory of the street that is called today "Jerusalem Boulevard" (in Hebrew "Sderot Yerushala'im"), a main street in nowadays Tel aviv-Jafa.
