Zochrot

About the site

This website is an instrument. Its purpose is not only to report about our organization, "Zochrot" - our tours, workshops, lectures, and the like — but is itself a means to tour destroyed Palestinian places, to ask new questions, and to take part in the discussions we encourage and host.

We the programmers and designers aspire for this website to be as clear and simple to use as possible. Some of the information on this site might be sensitive or difficult but our goal is not to impress or confuse you the visitor. Rather, it is to encourage the public to ask new question about the Nakba and the forms of life it continues to constitute for us today. Through OpenStreetMap, GoogleMaps, and social networking sites we hope to return the data that was erased in 1948 back to whom it belongs: To the refugees and to you the public. You are free to use the information on this site in any way you like, but please credit Zochrot as due.

This site is still in progress and we apologize for pages still under construction. In the future we hope to broaden options for you the visitor to participate in documenting and sharing any information about the Nakba that you have, or responding to what you read and see here.
